@Sandandart: First thing you need to do is to use SEF urls, currently there are a lot of paramaters like ? and & in jouw links. Make a small investment into the SEF404 component and set the url extension to .html Then look at the SEO Patch from www.joomlatwork.com that will enable you to create better HTML Titles. Implement the two and wait until Google revisits your site, you could use and sitemap.xml generator to speed up that process.

@rai: seo assitant is part of the OpenSEF component wich "died" a couple of years ago.

It is also limited to Joomla 1.0 and takes some time to get used to.
OpenSEF was however one of the best complete seo components for Joomla!

@Lisa: Check your site in Google with this search term:
site:allagashhunting.com
You will get an overview of the pages and titles that are indexed.

Look closely at your Titles and think about if you would click on them if you were looking for "Bear Hunting in Maine"
For more information about how to write titles for seo check out: http://www.copyblogger.com/magnetic-headlines/

Go to one of those pages and you will see that you are trying to hard.
You are repeating the Page Title on every first sentence of the page. Loose that first sentence, as you already have that text on the page in the page title that you show.

Now it looks like you want to spam the search engine by repeating you words directly after another.

I would also suggest that you reduce the number of keywords you use on each page, use only the main keywords that are also on the page itself.

If you are using a sefcomponent, see if you can add the suffix.html if so, look if the old URLs are redirected to the new ones. If not put it back.

I didn't see any statistic counter like statcounter of Google analytics on your pages. Try to implement that and check how people are coming to your site.

For me personaly, I would put the images that are now on top of the page down to the bottom. Text is more important for indexing. I would also move the menu modules to the right side of the page, giving you the same benefit that text will become more important.

You template still uses tables for layout instead of .css positioning. You might want to think about changing to a more up-to-date template.

These changes will take time to get into the index so don't expect ranking changes overnight. It really takes time.
There are several other issues, but start changing the titles of you pages.

Hope this will help, you are always welcome to ask for further advice.

We have worked for 2 years on our site. I worked on meta tags, meta decriptions and keywords trying to get search engines to crawl our site and move up but I think I am overlooking the real problem but not sure what it is?
Any suggestions?

thanks

@Dave: You can find these fields on the right side of your Joomla page's in the edit screen under the Tab Meta Info, it is inserted automaticly by Joomla into the "Header" code.<br><br>You could check this by looking at the source code for the page once you look at the page via a Browser.<br>Look in the browser under "view" and then source code.
