The JoomlaFCK Editor for Joomla 1.5 out now!

Today I found out that the best Free editor for Joomla, that is in my opinion is now available for Joomla 1.5 as wel.

it is also good to see that this Editor now has it’s own website JoomlaFCK.

I am working on some posts and articles about the new Joomla 1.5 Stable release and how to use and improve SEO for it.

And I couldn’t use my favorite editor… which is JoomlaFCK :-)

Joomla 1.5 ready

Why should you try this editor for your Joomla based website? Either for 1.0.x or 1.5 version…

Because it is the only one, free one that is, that doesn’t mess with your HTML code if you want to get something hand-coded in your content.

Further more you don’t have to install a lot of Plugins, it works for most of the content editing right out of the box.

Images handling

You might have noticed that I try to use a lot of images and screen shots to explain things.
JoomlaFCK give you the tools to upload your images without closing your page and does something pretty great for SEO as wel…

It takes the width and height values from the image and puts them in the code, you can also fill the Alt tag and on the Advanced tab also the Title of the images.
Then its up to you to make sure your images have the read name before uploading.

I could go on and on about this great editor, bu you just should try it yourself.

Download the right version, install it as a Plugin and activate it.

If you want to read more about this editor , go to the Homepage of JoomlaFCK editor or have a look at the impressive JoomlaFCK features map

    Hummerbie!

I read your post not too long ago about this editor and took your advice and installed the editor on a clients website. I have to agree with you that it’s a clean editor. I wasn’t too happy with some of the code it produced…

Nevertheless it’s really difficult finding the perfect editor isn’t it. I still personally prefer JCE but am the first to admit it’s not perfect!

    @Good web practices

The best editor I found until now is http://www.wysiwygpro.com/ but that will cost you some money.

For use on a single domain it’s 54 Dollars, but it comes with Joomla, Mambo and WordPress installation scripts ready to go.

I bought a license for one domain and could install it on the Joomla main site and in my WordPress Blog in a sub-domain, and I must admit, these is the best editor I found.

That said, JoomlaFCK is still the best Free editor.
You should have look at the settings in the Plugin to improve your preferences.

Before this version there was another one that did not perform as wel as this one, especially on Joomla 1.0.13 installations.

Personal note: Good to see your website is up now! and it looks like a Good web practice :-)

    Hi again,

It’s good to learn about Wysiwygpro I’d be interested to give that editor a go at somepoint on Joomla.

Thanks for your kind comments re: goodwebpractices.com Yeah we just launched a few weeks ago and are in the process of writing useful content :) Excited to be up and running and looking forward to the articles I’ll be adding soon about Joomla!

Hummerbie have you tried JCE? it’s now available for Joomla 1.5 in beta!

  5. joomavatar says:

Thanks for posting this articles on the JoomlaFCK. I was using JCE but after reading many positive reviews on the plug-in I decide to give it a try.

Wow, seriously good, leave all other editors standing by miles!

  6. motorbelly says:

Am I missing something? It looks like the only “free” version is good for one day.

  7. hummerbie says:

@motorbelly: Yes, your are missing something… the “free” version means that the Download access you get is just good for one day.

That means that if you opt for the free version you only have one day to download it.
Mostly that will do just fine.

The component itself has no restrictions in use, just install it and it will work forever.

Hope this helps you get this great editor

After scooting around, reading positive reviews, I decided to give in and finally tryout the editor. You see I’ve been a long standing user of JCE editor and because it works well I’ve seen no pressing reason to change! BUT that has all changed!
I downloaded the JoomlaFCK editor and was surprised how fast and feature rich it is. It also works out of the packet where with the JCE you also need to install the editor plus it component!!!
The interface is beautiful and a delight to use ! So here’s the facts: – JCE is Good but the JoomlaFCK is better !!!

I’m sooo tired of not being able to get a stable editor. I’ve used JCE in the past but for some reason it’s not working with my new site very well. The stock editor for Joomla worked pretty good when 1.5 first came out but I’ve been having issues with it too. Sure hope this works like you say. Thanks

I hope this one won’t provide so many troubles I used to have with the previous ones… thank you
