Why use Joomla when we have WordPress?
It seems like such a strange choice to me.

  2. hummerbie says:

@apr: Not that strange since WordPress also has its limitations and if you have to build a larger site that needs to have a good structure, try Joomla! :-)

I’ve used both Joomla and WordPress. Both have advantages. For smaller, simple sites, WordPress is good. I ended up just using a wordpress install to have a single page embedded in a normal site members of our search and rescue team can update our team’s activities themselves so I don’t have to. For bigger sites, with lots of features, Joomla is by far, the way to go. I have also messed around with other programs similar to Joomla and whereas they are all about the same for ease of use and adaptability, Joomla has many more extensions and components that actually work.

I use joomla for my authority websites which have 20+ pages. It is easier to organize content. I use wordpress for my smaller projects. Some people say that WordPress is better SEO optimized rather than Joomla, I agree, however if you install some Joomla plugins, it will be as good as WP.

    @access pc remotely,

Joomla is one of the most popular CMS’s on the market. You can blog and have articles(tutorials).
It is “good”, believe me. I run many sites with joomla, including shopping comparison sites.

You can do a lot more with Joomla than wordpress, even though you may not need to now, my advice is future proof yourself – you may need to do more later….

  8. Caralluma says:

Thanks so much for this freebie. I usually use wordpress but from what I’ve seen and heard joomla has it’s advantages so I’ve been trying to learn it. Your ebook is a great help.

  9. Tim Scott says:

Joomla is sure here to stay despite its slow popularity. I have been using it and i have tapped its hidden potential and benefited from it.

  10. John Young says:

I was always in a dilemma over WordPress and Joomla,
To add to my confusion the Drupal came in. But hands down have to opt for joomla for the benefits it provided in the web design. Joomla is an excellent solution that lies in the middle of WordPress’s ease of use and the flexibility of Drupal.

I mainly use wordpress and I also create some simple static pages with microsoft office. I think I am going to check out Joomla though.

Is Joomla better than WordPress? Anyway will try it. Thanks.

  15. Cellulean says:

I like wordpress because of all the plugins that you can use to achieve so much different stuff. Would be cool to know which works best for you. I may give Joomla go though and test the waters myself!

  16. Panic Attacks says:

We just recently have own entire site port over to Joomla. There are still some hiccups so hopefully this manual can help us troubleshot some problems we are facing with tracking.

  17. stop sweating says:

I’ve never even thought of using any platform other than WP. WP is all I know! But it’s interesting that some thoughts are that Joomla is a good choice for sites of 20+ pages!! I have sites that are over a 100 pages and all built with WP.

Maybe I need to branch out???

  18. Stop Sweating says:

I have almost exclusively used WordPress to build all of my sites initially. However, after a friend of mine who only uses Joomla showed me how he sets up his sites I definitely can see some of the benefits versus WordPress.

Luckily, I found this site to help me out with my new application.

Can anybody that has some SEO experience as well as WordPress comment on the ease or difficulty you may have had in getting sites to rank for specific keywords using these two platforms? That would be very helpful to a Joomla Newb!

Thanks Guys and Gals in advance.
