@Robin: Yes it was posted some time ago :-) but most of the content still is valid and very usefull at this time.

You will see that the Google Keyword tool has changed a lilte since this post but in essence it works the same.

Google also introducted the Wonder Wheel and now has the “releated searches” (Choose “More search tools” after your initial search) where you can find more great keyword terms to include in your list…

Wanted to add UGC for understanding the lingo used by the audience, e.g. blog comments, consumer reviews, researching competing products on Amazon, etc. and reading how the audience talks about a product. Also, since del.iciou.us tags are created by how people think and group bookmarks, these tags can shed some valuable insight.

Great suggestions! I was aware if those tools but you really put it all in perspective in terms of using them to maximize SEO. I also greatly appreciate the graphic about keyword clusters. That makes it all very clear. Great post about keywords and how it affects SEO.
